Watch out for that Tarantula Hawk

"I personally believe that..." today was my nephew Kole Tiago Melo's baby blessing. It was a very eventful blessing because both my Mom, Dad, and Brynne were not there to witness it. It was pretty emotional and we tried very hard not to think about it. About the title, yes it is true, today my nephew Jacob was stung by a tarantula hawk. We looked it up on Wikipedia and it is pretty intense. The poor fella. He was so brave afterwards though, but just hearing him cry was so sad. I guess it is one of the most hurtful stings by an insect, but it only lasts a few minutes. Anyway, it was very sad and I am glad he is doing alright. This is his "brave face" isn't it so cute? He was just bawling about one second before this, but I told him that he needed to show me his brave face for my blog. His Dad took very good care of him also, but he looks really annoyed with me in this pic. That is why I love it so much, annoyed Jed. So, the moral of this story is watch out for those tarantula hawks, they are sneeky little creepers. The rest of the blessing was less eventful, but a lot of fun.

This pic is for Brynne, Mom, and Dad. We are showing off our Korean love for you crazies! The best thing about today was playing jump rope with Iuri's climbing rope. We did all sorts of those fun jump rope chants such as (wow, I kind of sounded like Miss Teen South Carolina there) "Cinderella dressed in yella, went upstairs to kiss her fella..." or my personal fav "Ice cream ice cream cherry on top, who's your boyfriend I forgot..." We got all of the boys to be in the jump rope at the same time, followed by all of the girls jumping at the same time. It was a great work out and fun times were most def had by all. So, there is a little insight into a Burton Family day of fun. Mostly all we do is eat and chat, followed by some sort of children's game that brings joy to all of us. It was a happy day and the Melos are definitely party people. Thanks for the fun fam! And Mom, Dad, and Brynnie...you were definitely there in spirit. We missed you to death and it sure made the day have a big hole in it. We are trying to be brave, but that doesn't mean that we don't wish you were here too :). Peace.

Chop Chop

It was high time, I cut my hair. I know that everyone reading this must be shocked, amazed, and must care a whole lot about my hair. Oh well, I like to send this into the blog void anyway. It has been almost a whole year since I have wanted to cut my hair, but have simply not got up the nerve to do it. Now I just wish I had not taken so long. It saves me so much time every morning and we are saving so much money on shampoo. :) Bryce was a bit nervous at first, but he now says that he would never go back. He loves the short hair, I think it is just because of the whole saving money thing. He's really into that sort of thing :). I do enjoy using smily faces and exclamation points a great deal, simply because I really like to make sure that people know that I am happy and in a good mood about what I am saying. Usually, when no exclamation point is present, the topic is generally not one that interests me. On the subject of things that interest me, here are my top three favs:
3. The Office....FOREVER!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF5SDaNoVZE

2. Berries and Cream. Need I say more? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYX_zhlTDr8

Enter the Blogisphere

Well, now that Annie and Brynne both have blogs, I thought it might be a fun way to keep track of our little family's history. There has not been much excitement around the Winkelman house lately with Bryce working 30 hours a week and being a full time business student. Also, I am teaching fourth grade at Art City Elementary in Springville and so most of our days and nights are full of homework (either doing it or correcting it), reading, or coloring (that's just on my end I suppose). It has been quite incredible to think that we have already been married a year. It seems like we have been married forever, but that this year has just flown by, except for the past few months without my Mom and Dad who are in Korea as mission presidents. But, I am hoping to post exciting new things soon, like our trip to see Wicked in LA or some funny teacher stories, so stay tuned.
